xorizontal Alicnment. Slight deviation from the designed horizontal alignment was made
f
~~ near Rattle Snake Butte (STA 43+00). This was done to avoid blasting the sandstone knob.
Road Cuts. Cut slopes were generally flatter then 1.Sh:ly unless rock or consolidated
material was encountered. One such area was near STA.s 46+00 to 51+00. The cut slopes in
the rock were approximately 1h:ly.
Road Embankments. The design required that the embankments be compacted to 90X of Standard
Proctor-density. Seventy (70) density tests were performed during construction of the
embankments (06/09/92 - 07/21/92). The results of these tests can be found in Addendum
C-1. Tests ranged in value from 88X to 700•X of standard Proctor density. Only two tests
were below the specified 90X.
Twenty-four (24) stability monuments were installed on June 13, 1992 to monitor possible
movement of the potentially unstable area between STA.s 45+00 end 56+00. The monuments
were resurveyed on July 17, 7992 and August 22, 1992. Survey results indicate that no
movement has occurred either above or below the road in this location. The survey notes
will be kept on file at the mine site.
Embankment slopes were generally constructed et a slope of 2h:ly or less.
Drainage. Drainage ditches were constructed es shown on Exhibits 73-19. 1A through 13-19.4A
(As-Built drawings). The three types of ditches constructed were "B" and "C" as shown on
Exhibit 73-70, Typical Road Details and XRD-G1 ss shown in Tab 13.
Culverts. Culverts were installed es per the original design except for culvert G-b.
This culvert was eliminated from the road Construction. The reasoning behind this decision
we s, upon field inspection, the culvert was not needed end the runoff Could be routed to
Pond 005. Culvert G-2 was conservatively designed in the event that runoff from Pond 005
would pass through the emergency spillway or that the road would remain as a permanent
structure after the pond is reclaimed.
The es-built drawings will replace the design drawings.
To the best of my knowledge end belief, field adjustments made during the construction of
