EXHIBIT G
WATER INFORMATION
Surface Water
The site is located within the Cache La Poudre Flood 100-yeaz floodplain. The floodplain
definition is located in Exhibit C of the DMG permit application. This information was taken
from November 17, 1993 FEMA Panel # 080101 208. A portion of the Cache La Poudre
floodway also passes through the site. This is due the under sizing of the I-25 bridge passing
over the river north of Harmony Road.
At the time, there aze two ditches on the property used to irrigate. These irrigation ditches are
strictly used by the property owners. Only the one on the west side will be effected by mining
activity. The property owners have no objection to the removal of this ditch.
The western edge of the permit follows a segment of a Box Elder Ditch lateral (Arthw Lateral).
Connell will not mine closer than 100 feet to the Arthw Lateral.
The Fossil Creek Inlet is located on the west of the permit boundary. It will not be affected by
the mining activity.
The topography on the site dips to the southeast, therefore swface water coming onto the property
is generally from the northwest and water drains at the southeast corner. Connell will submit an
application to the Colorado Department of Health for a Storm Water Dischazge Permit and Storm
Water Management Plan. Connell will take measwes to minimize the natwal drainage cowse
on the site. Topsoil and overbwden stockpiles will be placed outside of the floodway and aligned
in the direction of the flows (see Exhibit C). Stockpiles remaining in one location for longer then
one growing season shall be seeded to reduce erosional effects. The excavation of a pit will
reduce the floodplain width and as well as the flow velocities. It will act as a sediment trap and
reduce the amount sediment potentially leaving the site.
There aze wetlands on the property that have evolved over the yeazs from the irrigated farming.
A wetland delineation of the site was performed by a wetland professional. Exhibit C displays
the boundazies of the wetlands and any Waters of the U.S. discovered from the delineation. The
Army Corps of Engineers will be contacted regazding the recommended cowse of action for any
necessary wetland mitigation (Exhibit G-1).
9
