Methodolpgy and Frequency

1.41 Dedic ated M onito ring Wells
As stated previously, W RN has completed four monitor wells up-gradient from
the well field and nine monitor wells down-gradient from the well field. The
three sets of monitor we:lls are completed to monitor four water bearing zones,
listed in descending order of depth: the Perched aquifer, the A-Groove of the
upper aquifer, the B-Groove of the lower aquifer, and the Dissolution Surface
aquifer, which is just above the mining zone.
Constituents and freque~icy of monitoring for hydrology sampling wells follows:
-Potentiome:tric water level -continuously monitored (manually
quarterly).
-Minor constituents -two times, one week apart soon after wells are
completed and annually throughout mining operations.
-Field Constituents -monthly, beginning six months before and
continuing through mining operations for all monitoring wells.
-Major Constituents -quarterly, beginning six months before and
continuing throughout mining operations. Note, an exception are
wells immediately down-gradient (EX-2, 89-1, 2, 3), they will be
sampled monthly until an authorized BLM officer determines that
quarterly is sufficient. Also, an exception is IRI-8 which is sampled
quarterly for field parameters and level, and annually for lab
analysis (minor constituents). Sampling will continue for three
23
