Mule Creek Gravel l~nvironmental Assessment • Page 20
bli
h
f di
d l
v) To insure adequate esta
ment o
verse an
ong lasting
s
vegetation cover, site prepazation will include disking, application
' of soil amendments and fertilizers as needed, drilling and
broadcasting or hydro seeding on slopes 3:1 or less and mulching
with certified noxious weed free materials such as straw or hay at 2
tons per acre.
vi) Weed control will be employed if invasion of a weed species
seriously threatens the continued development of desired
vegetation in the reclaimed azea or adjacent areas.
vii) Access roads will be maintained until completion of mining and
restoration activities.
' viii) Normal.stabilization of disturbed surfaces will be performed in all
disturbed aeeas. No seeding will occur in aeeas where chemical or
physical chazacteristics of the surface and underlying material of
t [he affected land is deficient in plant nutrients, or composed of
sand, gravel, shale or stone to such an extent as to seriously inhibit
plant growth and such condition that cannot be remedied by
' chemical treatment, fertilization, replacement of overburden, or
similaz measures.
ix) On private land, where conditions seriously inhibit plant growth,
planting will be delayed or provided on substitute acres to be
determined at that time based on agreement with the Forest Service
and Mined Land Reclamation Boazd. All aeeas disturbed on Forest
land will receive restorative treatment.
F. Revegetation Monitoring:
Species cover and shrub density will be monitored each year to assess
' reclamation success. Monitoring activities will take place until
performance standazds are reached (A monitoring plan with performance
standards has not yet been established, but will be needed in conjunction
' with the final reclamation plan.)
G. Buildings and Improvements:
' The only improvement currently located within the area is a 20 feet wide
utility easement along the West line of the mine boundary and the
surveyed and posted property boundary. There is a 4-inch steel gas main
in the center of the easement with a 2-inch plastic gas pipe along side in a
common trench. There will be no material removed from the easement
' area which would reduce the cover over the pipes. The surveyed and
posted property boundary will be reestablished upon completion of the
project.
1
t Hydrosphcre Resource Consultants, 1002 Walnut Suitc 200, Boulder, CO 80102
