3B - Continued
These buildings no longer serve a critical purpose
for the sand-gravel operations . The scale house/
office and an equipment storage shed are located
approximately 500 feet south of the crusher . A
hot mix asphalt plant is not on site at this time ,
however , such a plant is planned for the future to
be included in the overall operations at the sand
and gravel pit .
4 . Sand and gravel stockpiles will be maintained on
the site in the Phase III areas as shown on Exhibit C .
The stockpiles are indicated by "Material Stockpiles-
' (Typ . ) " on Exhibit C and may be identified by contour
lines showing material piles , both north and south
of the crusher site . These locations will be continued
until removal of the sand and gravel in the area occurs ,
at which time the crusher and stockpiles will be moved
north to areas outside the excavation.
S . Topsoil stockpiles will be planted with a perennial
grass such as western wheatgrass at a rate of about
6# PLS/Acre , if left undisturbed for more than one
growing season.
C. Exhibit E
Carrol E . Hamon , District Conservationist for the
United States Department of Agriculture in Longmont
was consulted for his advice on the type of native
grass seed mixture and plantings that would do best
on the property in question.
The seed mixture suggested is Smooth Brome ,
6 . 5 lbs . /acre , Orchard , 2 lbs . /acre , and Alfalfa ,
2 lbs . /acre . The germination and purity of the above
seed would be determined at the time of purchase and
quantity would be determined then.
The dikes and other open areas will be smoothed
by dragging in preparation for drilling and/or broad-
casting the seed , and then covered with 1/2" of soil .
The timeline for planting the seed would be ideally
during the Fall season or springtime prior to May 1 ,
before the weather becomes too hot. The applicant
intends to comply with Mr . Hamon ' s recommendations .
2
I
