[Je hope that the
following responses will be satisfactory.
/Item 1 - Proof of the remaining three weeks of publication.
RESPONSE: Proof of publication was sent under separate cover.
/Item 2 - Proof of notification of land owners and adjacent landowners.
RESPONSE: Proof of notification was sent under separate
cover.
FINAL LAND USE
Item 1 - Please provide an alternative land use; "revegetation" is
not a land use.
RESPONSE: We realize that simply revegetation is not an actual
land use, but we were at a loss to define anything more specific. The
surrounding land uses are in a rapidly changing state. Development
here, as is the case in most areas around Colorado Springs, is "gobbling
up" huge quantities of land and what seems to be a reasonable use today
may very well be something totally different next week.
We considered giving as an alternative either wildlife or grazing,
but neither of those seemed to be particularly honest. As the Division
of Wildlife has indicated, there is little wildlife of any significance
in this area. Probably the only wildlife habitat that would be created
would be for rodents and lagomorphs, but it seemed to be stretching the
point some to designate the alternative land use as habitat for mice and
rabbits.
