U . S. Highway 6 and 24 , and nearest non-agricultural use is
the Eagle County Airport.
Because of the ruggedness of the terrain and the sparse-to-
moderate ground covering in this area, there is virtually no
wildlife on the subject property. Moreover, as the land lies
between Interstate 70 to the north and the Denver and Rio Grande
Western Railroad and U. S . Highway 6 and 24 to the South, the
property is not utilized for seasonal use or wildlife crossings.
2. Implementation of Plan. The grading of the raw cut
cliff face to a slope not to exceed 2 : 1 will be accomplished by
front-end loaders as the mining operation progresses . Whatever
soil is needed to achieve that slope grade and a seed bed of
minimum depth of 4 inches will be provided. Seeding, and fertil-
ization where feasible, will be begun on the fully mined portions
of the acreage in each phase before the mining of the entire
acreage of that phase is completed, probably in increments of 200
linear feet along the ridge of the cliff. Therefore reclamation
of the acreage in Phase I will be partly concurrent with minting
operations in Phase II, and reclamation of Phase II will be
partly concurrent with mining in Phase III . The grading and
replanting of each phase will be completed within five years of
the commencement of mining in that phase.
In accordance with the recommendation of the Soil Conservation
Service, the following mixture of grasses will be used for re-
seeding the mined areas:
Nordan Crested Wheatgrass 4 lbs. p. l.s./acre
Luna Pubescent Wheatgrass 7/2 lbs. p. l . s ./acre
Indian Ricegrass 5 lbs. p. l. s./acre
Barton Western Wheatgrass 6. 4 lbs. p. l. s./acre
Sodar Streambank Wheatgrass 4. 4 lbs. p. l. s. /acre
Seeding will be done by hand by the broadcast method and in
accordance with guidelines of the Soil Conservation Service. No
insuperable difficulty is anticipated in obtaining the desired
seed varieties; Indian Ricegrass is somewhat more difficult to
