Plant azeas will be graded to
blend in with the surrounding topography before topsoiling and seeding.
The railroad spur is estimated to be approximately 20,000 ft long. The bond estimate is
based on removing the rail and ballast from the site, followed by grading to blend in with
the surrounding topography. These areas will be covered with topsoil (salvaged and
stockpiled during construction), and seeded with the prescribed seed mix.
Consistent with Rio Grande's Air Quality Permit, The surface mine will be reclaimed
concurrently with mining, so that no more than approximately 30 acres (less than 15.5
acres subject to wind erosion) should be unreclaimed at any given time. In addition,
approximately 40 acres of other disturbed azeas for roads, conveyor corridors, and other
facilities are assumed for these calculations. Grading includes smoothing final highwalls
to no steeper than 4H:1 V and establishing drainage. Reclamation of the surface mine will
also requite dismantling and removing the crusher and conveyors before grading,
topsoiling, and seeding.
The access road and the bridge over the St. Chazles River are assumed to be acceptable
improvements that will be taken over by the. landowner, and therefore no reclamation is
anticipated.
AppEx6ibilsA-T-APPQ780)Aev87January 17,2002 L-2
