METHODS Contra
Solid Phase Extraction/pH Adjustment Test (pH 3, pH,) -
Effluent at pH 3 and initial pH from the pH adjustment
and filtration test were passed through C1B octadecyl
Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) columns. Column flow was
reverse gravity at 5 ml/min with a FMI Fluid Metering
Pump. Prior to organism exposure, pH adjusted samples
were adjusted to the initial pH with NaOH and HZSOa. A
total of ten organisms were exposed to 0$, 12.5$, 50$ and
100$ dilutions prepared using reconstituted laboratory
water at 125 mg/L CaC03.
Oxidant Reduction Test - Ten organisms were exposed to
each of 20 milliliter samples of 100$ effluent aliquots
containing 0.0 ml, 0.012 ml, 0.025 ml, 0.05 ml, 0.1 ml,
0.2 ml, 0.4 ml, 0.6 ml, 0.8 ml and 1.0 ml of a 22 g/L
Sodium Thiosulfate (NaZSZ03) stock solution. Time to
mortality was observed beginning approximately 24 hours
after initial exposure.
EDTA Chelation Test - Ten organisms were exposed to each
of 20 milliliter samples of 1003 effluent aliquots
containing 0.0 ml, 0.012 ml, 0.025 ml, 0.05 ml, 0.1 ml,
0.2 ml, 0.4 ml, 0.6 ml, 0.8 ml and 1.0 ml of a 10 g/L
EDTA stock solution. Time to mortality was observed
beginning approximately 24 hours after initial exposure.
5
COMMERCIALTESTING & ENGIN EE RING CO.
F466 L~~
Original Warartnarked For Vour Pralection .,
