B&B Excavating, /nc. -Montgomery Grave! Pit Stormwater Management Plan

Page 4
B.. MATFRi:At C MANAGEMIIVT PRACTICES ::.
1. All materials are handed in accordance with Occupational Safety & Health
Administration (OSHA) requirements and/or manufacturers instructions.
2. Petroleum products aze stored in bermed azeas. If drip pans are used, they are cleaned
on a regular basis.
3. The amount of fuel stored on-site will be reasonable to support daily operations.
Redundant or unnecessary tanks will be removed from the site. Empty tanks and drums
will be refilled or disposed of properly.
4. Waste oil will be beneficially used as burner fuel at the B&B asphalt plant located near
Edwazds, Colorado. The waste oil will be burned to generate heat for the processing of
asphalt. The use of waste oil for heat energy is performed in compliance with air
pollution emission standards by filtering the exhaust air through an efficient bag house
filtration system.

1

C.:. OF INDUSTRIAI:: ACTIVITY.; .::.::'
Offsite Sources
Three potential off-site stormwater sources exist: (1) Eagle River, (2) Skillman Gulch,
and (3) the CKP Ditch. According to FEMA floodplain maps, the Fagle River 100-year
floodplain boundaries do not encroach operation areas in Basins A and B. Skillman
Gulch is an ephemeral stream with a 100-year flood flow rate of approximately 50 cfs.
The 100-yeaz depth of flow in Skillman Gulch is estimated to be about 1.5 feet and,
therefore, would not breach the 3-foot high berm required by a Special Use Permit to be
placed at the 6,460-foot contour. It is important that the berm extending up Skillman
Gulch be maintained to avoid the possibility of Skillman Gulch water mixing with on-site
water. This will likely require periodic regrading where vehicles travel to cross the
channel.
