Part I
Page No. 6
Permit No.: CO-0045225
The information gathered by this monitoring will be submitted to [hc Division by December 31, of each year.
After infiltration rates have been adequately characterized, a reduction in monitoring frequency ma}' be granted.
The above monitoring requirements aze summarized in the following table:
Table I.B.-I
Infiltration Monitoring Requirements for Points 002A, 003A (Upper & Lower Ponds), and 004A
Parameter. :..: Fregiiency.:..
Depth of Precipitation, inches
Estimated Initial Runoff Volume Captured in Pond, cu ft
Estimated Infiltration Rate, inches/day
4 storms per yearn 0.5', plus all storms x 1.8"
4 storms per yearx 0.5', plus all storms x 1.8"
4 storms per yearx 0.5", plus all storms x 1.8"
Monitoring wilt be dune during the period of May 1, thru October 3l, of each yeaz, following storms with a
precipitation depth of 0.5 inches or greater, for a minimum of four storms per year, provided that at least four storms
with a depth of 0.5 inches occur. All storms of a magnitude of 1.8 inches or greater will also be monitored.
2. Water Quality Sampling
Water quality sampling is required far regenerative releases from the lower pond at the Ironclad Overburden Storage
Area. Monitoring of the releases must be done as follows:
a. Monitoring must be done on at least a monthly basis during any month when a regenerative release occurs. After
sufficient characterization of the regenerative release has been accomplished, the monitoring frequency may be
reduced.
b. Samples shall be collected at the outfall from the lower pond, prior [o entering Squaw Gulch. Grab samples may
be collected at a point in time that is approximately midway through the release. Optionally, the permittee may
collect composite samples, with aliquots collected at evenly spaced intervals throughout the dischazge. pH must
be measured in-situ.
c. Regenerative release monitoring requirements aze summarized in the following table:
Table i.B -2
for Regenerative Releases From Point 003A
,...
Pazatueter Sample Type Frequency *.
pH, su in-Sim /Grab Monthly
TSS, mg/1 Grab /Composite Monthly
Cadmium, PD, mg/I Grab /Composite Monthly
Copper, PD, mg/I Grab /Composite Monthly
Iron, TR, mg/I Grab /Composite Monthly
Lead, PD, mg/1 Grab /Composite Monthly
Zinc D. meQ Grab / Comnosite Monthly
• during any month when a regenerative release occurs
Based upon the results of the above sampling, additional insveam monitoring may be required in order to further assess
whether or not there is a reasonable potential for water quality standazds to be violated. The procedures for determining
whether or not additional monitoring is required, and for performing the monitoring, are explained below:
