---=~
Open pit mining has taken place in this general area before and no
refuse, acid-forming or toxic producing materials have been
encountered, therefore no such encounter is expected with this
project. If any such materials are exposed, contact will be made with
the Colorado Department of Health and their recommendations will be
followed to mitigate the situation.
Berms will be placed in any areas necessary to contain stormwaters on
site during the operation of the pit. The final reclamation will
leave a depression which will retain stormwaters until evaporation and
leaching dissipnte such waters. The operntion is in no way expected
to affect ground waters. It is not anticipated that ground water will
be encountered during the life of the operation.
The reason for this project is to produce road surface material, for
gravel roads, in order to maintain County roads in the general area.
One of the reasons this site was selected, is that very little
preparation of material will be necessary. The deposit consists of
adobe fines over decomposed granite. For the most part, it is
anticipated that the material will be extracted, loaded and placed on
roadways. In the extreme, crushing and/or screening may be required,
however not anticipated. There will be no processing that include
leaching, milling, washing, or batch plants of any type on this site.
