4.0 SURFACE WATER
Trapper Mine monitored one stream site and nine NPDES
discharge sites during 1990. The stream site is S1: Flume Gulch.
NPDES sites 001. 002. 003. 005. 006. 008, 009. 010. 011 and the
10YR/24HR (Coyote) site were also monitored for discharge. Stream
site S3 is also NPDES site 011. The sites were visited weekly
throughout the year. Plots of flow versus time of the year are
presented 'for those sites monitored by continuous recorders
including sites S1. NPDES 001, 002, 003. 005 and 006 and Coyote.
Map No. 2-3 also shows the location of the surface-water sites.
NPDES sites 009 and 011 had no discharge and no flow data is
presented. NPDES sites 008 and 010 had a small discharge early
• during the Spring melt. Sites 004 and 007 have been dropped from
the monitoring program after regulatory approvals.
4.1 SURFACE-WATER FLOW
Flow from Flume Gulch site 51 had an observed maximum of
approximately 8.6 gpm during the period March 1990 through November
1990. Data was not collected during the Winter months of January.
February and December 1990 for any of the sites. Flow averaged 1.7
gpm through the period. Figure C-1 presents the flow versus time
for Flume Gulch site S1 which shows only small flows for 1990 from
this site.
• •Figure C-2 presents the flow versus days for NPDES site 001
(Johnson Gulch). Average flow during the period presented in
Figure C-2 was 31.4 gpm with a peak flow of 502.7 gpm occurring in
the first part of March. The peak flow was observed while
4-1
