This is a deep, well-drained <br />~' soil formed in outvaeh materiel oa fans and foothill eideslopee. Typically the <br />' surface layer is very cobbly loam overlying extremely cobbly sandy clay loam <br />which grades into extremely cobbly sandy loam in the subsoil. The substratum <br />ie extremely cobbly loamy sand; the profile is non-calcareous. Permeability is <br />moderately rapid to moderate; water holding capacity is very low. Surface <br />runoff is medium and erosion hazard ie slight. The Curecanti soil is used as <br />native rangeland. <br />RANGE SITE <br />• <br />• <br />ROCKY FOOTHILLS - Early spring moisture occurring on moderately deep to deep rock <br />filled stony loam soils, give this Bite a good potential for productive plant <br />growth. Rocks tend to concentrate the moisture in a given volume of soil, <br />increasing the eater available for plant growth over that in a rock-free soil. <br />Production reaches as high de 1,500 lbs. per acre air dry in favorable yearn. <br />Bluestema, Griffith~e vheatgrass, sideoats grams, needle and thread, along with <br />a scattered stand of skunkbush, mountain mahogany, and currant, form the typical <br />aspect. <br />
