The best thing that I can see for reclamation of this site is that first the entire spoils pile be mined.
I think all are in agreement with this.
The entire area surrounding the site is zoned RC-recreational except for a small area at the
unincorporated town of Garfield which is zoned R-1 residential and a small strip on the highway
at Garfield where the ski lodge and snowmobile horse rental is located which is Zoned C-
commercial. Wildlife wise, the most significant is a small but growing herd of bighorn sheep.
They hang out at the quarry and do not seem to mind the activity there. Snowmobilers are using
the area in winter. It has had quite extensive use this winter.
I would think that twenty years from now, as today, the area would be used for recreation and
.s wildlife habitat. The crushing tipple would be left for its historical value and any structure that
,'~ might be constructed to house and maintain equipment would remain if it would facilitate a
recreational use. I will furnish the maps, water arrangements with the State Engineer and
agreement with the Forest Service when I have authority from U. S. Lime & Minerals to proceed
Respectfully,

JS:as
cc: Johnney Rowers
