Mulching and Anchoring - Ray mulch sill be applied at the rate <br />of 5,000 pounds per acre. At lest 5095 of the hay mulch should <br />be 10 inches in length or longer when bales are opened. idulchiag <br />may precede or follow the seeding operation. Muloh will bo spread <br />uniformly over the area either by hand or with a mechanical mulch <br />spreader. A heavy disk or mulch crimper with flat serrated disks <br />at least one-fourth inch in thickness, with drill edges and spaced <br />no more than nine inches apart should be used to anchor the mulch <br />into the soil. Mulch material shall be anchored into the soil to <br />a depth of about two to three inches. flinch should not be covered <br />with an excessive amount of soil, Number of passes over the <br />mulch should not exceed tau operations and should be across the <br />elope where practicable. <br />Other acceptable methods of mulching are available and may be <br />used in lieu of the above described method. <br />(']). Seeding - Seeding operations may be performed in the late fall or <br />no later than May 1 in the spring. <br />(8). Method of Seeding - Seeding operations, where possible, should <br />be done across the elope. Seeding will be done with a grass <br />drill capable of handling the seed being planted. Seed will not <br />be planted more than one-half inch deep. <br />(9 ).
