Aldrich: <br />November 9, 1977 <br />Following is the resource information you regmeeted for your pertoit <br />application to the Colorado Alined Land Reclamation Board. This information <br />ie for 18.49 acres of county owned gravel pit looated NW} SW~ Sec. 28, <br />T22S, R58W in Otero County. Our assistance will be limited to Reclamation <br />Plan, Wildlife Information, Soils Information, Vegetation Information <br />and approximate Reclamation Costs: <br />RECLAMATION PLAN <br />1. The affected area will be reclaimed for Bangeland. <br />2. Critical Area Planting - Area of the reclamation plan contains .48 <br />acres roadways, 10.91 acres existing pit and 7.10 acres of proposed <br />pit expansion. All surfaced mined areas will be reseeded at the <br />time of abandonment using the following practice specifications: <br />(1 ). ~i'opaoil removal - Topsoil will be removed and stockpiled prior <br />to gravel pit operations. <br />(2). Construction - All banks will be shaped and graded to a j:l <br />grass or flatter. <br />(3). Topsoil application - Topsoil removed from construction will be <br />uniformly applied after shaping and grading. Topsoil sill be <br />tilled into soil surface during seedbed preparation. Due to <br />lack of topsoil on affected area it may be necessary to secure <br />topsoil from another location prior to reseeding and apply on <br />affected area. <br />(4). Seedbed Preparation - Seedbed shall be loosened to a depth of <br />six inches and smoothed. Disking or cultipacking or both may <br />be necessary. Trash and other debris that may interfere with <br />seeding shall be removed from the site. <br />($). Fertilizer - All areas to be seeded will be fertilized with not <br />less than 40 or more than 50 pounds of available nitrogen (N2) <br />and at least 40 and not more than SO pounds of available phosp- <br />horous (P2o5) per acre. Fertilizer shall be the granular form <br />and be applied uniformly over the area to be seeded. Fertilizer <br />will be worked into the Boil during the seedbed preparation. <br />Fertilizer application and seedbed preparation will be timed <br />and the work coordinated so that the fertilizer will not be <br />exposed to rainfall prior to the time is is worked into the <br />soil. <br />pagelof6 <br />
