Shelton
Director
May 14, 1981
Mr. Lee Doughty
11377 Plainview Road
Golden, Colorado 80401
RE: Doughty's Pits
File: X175-9
Dear Mr. Doughty:
I have finished my adequacy review of your application for a mining and
reclamation permit for the above captioned clay and rock operation. I
have several questions and comments that I will outline on an exhibit-
by-exhibit basis below. We have discussed some of these matters before,
but I am trying to include everything in this letter to keep the file
complete. Any areas that I do not mention are considered adequate at this
time.
I will need the proof of the two sequential weeks of publication. This
should eventually be an affidavit from the newspaper, but, for now, a copy
of the publication will do. Also, if there are any other landowners right
next to the operation, you should send them a copy of the publication by
certified mail and send me the return receipt.
Application Item 12
In your original application of 1974 you gave the acreage for the operation
as 9. The present application is for 5 acres. The entire acreage affected
since 1973 and any acreage to be disturbed as part of the future mining
operation should be included in this permit. This includes all the activities
associated with the operation such as topsoil and product stockpile areas as
well as the pits themselves. Please clarify this matter by verifying how
many acres are to be in the permit, and submit $10.00 for every acre added
between the 5 given and the maximum of less than 10 under a limited impact
permit.
Exhibit A
The legal description is unclear. In which quarter quarter sections of
Section 12 are the pits located?
Exhibits B and C
1. A complete list of the earth moving equipment (beyond a front end loader)
should be provided.
