Bestway Paving Company <br /> 112 Permit Application <br /> EXHIBIT D, MINING PLAN - SUMMARY <br /> A few details remain to be worked out concerning the mining plan, so <br /> it would be premature to present a detailed discussion of the mining phase <br /> ' of the overall operation. In general , the mining operation can be described <br /> as an open-pit gravel operation using standard earthmoving equipment, <br /> including loaders, bulldozers, and scrapers. The operation has been <br /> designed to permit single handling of nearly all materials at the site. <br /> ' Initially, topsoil and overburden materials will be stockpiled or used <br /> for construction of landscape berms. The gravel above the water table <br /> will be mined from a cell of as-yet-unknown dimensions until the water <br /> ' table is reached. A cutoff trench will be excavated to the underlying <br /> claystone bedrock, and dewatering will commence. The remaining gravel <br /> t <br /> E will be mined to bedrock, and while the excavation is still dewatered, <br /> ' overburden will be replaced, covered by,sufficient topsoil to allow . <br /> agricultural use of the area. Individual mining phase areas will consist <br /> ' of a number of such cells.
