6.3.4 (1) (cl Revegetation:
(il Plant erowth medium
The original plant growth medium from each site will be replaced to the original depth from the
stockpiles on site.
(il) Reseeding
Reseeding will be accomplished in late autumn to take advantage of winter moisture and ensure good
spring growth in accordance with Forest Service recommendations. Soil is prepared for seed by raking
after final contouring is completed. Final contouring will be done immediately before seeding to
insure a good, aerated seed bed. If the soil has become compacted, it will be re-disked to properly
prepaze the soil. If any reclamation is carried over to the spring of the following mining season,
seeding will take place as early as possible in the same manner as above.
(ui) Plant species
We will use a Forest Service recommended grass seed mixture. This is a dry land pasture mix and
contains rapid growing rye grass to establish a quick cover and hold on the soil. Other grasses include
smooth bromegrass, palate orehazdgrass, wheatgrass, and fawn tall fescue. We also mix in a small
quantity of Colorado mountain meadow flower seeds including coneflower, larkspur, poppy, flax,
lupine, paintbrush, coreopsis, and penstemon.
(iv.) AQplication method
After soil prepazation, by disking, the seed will be broadcast using ahand-held seed dispenser at a rate
of 30 lbs per acre. We propose each site of 7,000 sq' be seeded with S lbs of seed, a slightly higher
rate. After seeding, the area will be mechanically raked.
v. Mulch
A half-gallon of mulch, decomposing leaves, topsoil, etc., will be used for each tree planted.
vi. Trees
In sites A through D and site H we will plant a minimum of two dozen mixed ponderosa pine and
douglas fir per site. In sites E through G, we will plant one dozen ponderosa pines per site. Sites E
through G aze mostly open grassland with occasional trees.
Each tree will be planted in a separate hole which will be birtned to retain water. Trees will also be
mulched to help retain water while the trees aze becoming established.
6.3.4. (l~ (d) Post mining_ponds, streams and buildines:
No water features nor any structures will be affected. No ponds or any water features will be
constructed.
