/$L <br />• Louviers series. <br />The Louviers series consists of shallow, well drained soils on <br /> uplands and side slopes. These soils formed in residuum and coltuvium <br /> derived domir~aritly from shale. Slope is 3 to 65 percent. G5 W. <br /> A--O to 2 inches; grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) channery clay loam, <br /> dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2) moist; moderate very fine granular <br /> structure; hard, firm, sticky and slightly plastic; 30 percent <br /> ch~ar~r~er-y fragments; neutral; clear smooth boundary. <br /> AC--2 to lb inches; grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) silty clay loam, <br /> dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2) moist; weak coarse subangular blocky <br /> str-uctur-e that parts to moderate fine subangular blocks; hard, firm, <br /> sticky ar~d plastic; 20 percent shale fragments; gradual srnoath <br /> buundar•y. <br /> Cr---Fractured blocky interbedded shale and siltstone. <br /> Paralithic contact is at a depth of 1U to 20 inches. The control <br /> section is 0 to 35 percent rock fragments. A horizon: Texture is <br /> stony I~iam, very channery loam, or very channery clay loam. Reaction <br /> is neutral or mildly alkaline. C horizon: Texture is clay loam or <br /> silty clay loam.^Clay content is 35 to 50 percent. The horizon is U <br />• tc~ 3r.i percent shale fragments.
