'1'he proposal <br />was Sublltltted by Chris Elder and Tim Arough. 1'tu Division of 1Jildli!'e would like <br />to colmnent on the potential impact this facility might Have on the uildli.i'e Tesource <br />in this area. <br />I am famili.xr with tho river bottom, tl~o wetlands and slolaehs on End ad1acent to <br />the property in question, I have worked this area 1'or ovoa• seven years. I have <br />also conaultsd FSr. lbn Bogart, ifabitaL Hiologiat for the D,O,W, nnrtlloast region, <br />about this pro)ect, and ha has eloo toured the property. <br />This section oT the river includes one of tho best intact wetland and associated <br />warm Water sloughs to be fond between Creeloy s:~d >'ort Col.lilrs. This riparian <br />area providwr, shelter and nestiut~ cover for a variety of wildlife sFecies including: <br />waterfolrl, shorebirds, passerine birds, upland game, antl various f'urLeerers. Tho <br />area also provides essential habitat for raptors, and mule and white-tai]. dear. <br />Tho warm wator area does not freoro in winter, and therefore provides a very im- <br />portant orf river reetine area for well over 1,600 ducks during minter. In summary, <br />this area is a key piece of t+ilJli.fe habitat. <br />The construction and operation of tike proposed tray and skeet facility would, most <br />lixoly, have a very serious negative impact to the wildlife species that rely on <br />thic riparian area.
