<br />SITE DESCRIPTION (coot) Exhibit B <br />VEGETATION INFORMATION <br />1. Current cover percent is: 5 to 15~ <br />2. Topsoil depth on site averages: 8 to 12 inches <br />3. Seeding dates recommended: October 15 (after first freeze) <br />to April 30 (before last frost). <br />4. Fertilizer, if needed: Phosphate @ 40 lb/ac and nitrogen @ <br />40 lb/ac. <br />5. Seeding recommendation for area: <br />Non-Irrigated grass seed recommendation <br />Seed Rate PLS/acre <br />Yellow Sweetclover 2.00 <br />Smooth Brome 14.00 <br />Blue gramma 1.50 <br />17.501 <br />The seed mix and rates proposed are a mix that has proven <br />successful on other sites in the vicinity of this mine. The seed <br />will be drilled where possible and doubled if broadcast. This <br />mix will place 62.7 ± seeds/sgft/pls and exceeds the recommended <br />40 seeds/sgft/pls in the SCD Planting Guide for disturbed areas. <br />The site is currently a relatively level sandy rangeland site <br />typical to the area north of the North Fork Republican River. It <br />is a dryland site with no special or unique characteristics. <br />Average annual production is approximately 800 pounds per acre. <br />Tall grasses make up approximately 35~ of the vegetative cover <br />and the plant community is 75 to 90 percent grasses and 10 to 15 <br />percent shrubs (wormwood). <br />The species of vegetation found on the site are Blue gramma, <br />sedge, prairie sandreed, sand bluestem, little bluestem, needle <br />and thread, switchgrass, western wheatgrass, buffalo grass, sand <br />dropseed and sand sage. These species makeup 90 to 95$, by <br />weight, of the species found on the site. <br />NOTE: 1/ Indicated rate if drilled. The mixtures will be doubled if <br />broadcast. <br />5 <br />
