<br />e <br />ESPEY, FFUSTON b ASSOCIATES, INC. <br />• <br />2.0 METHODOLOGY <br />2.1 LITERATURE REVIEW <br /> <br />Prior to the commencement of the field work, a seazch of the site files <br />of the Office of the State Archaeologist (OSAC), the Colorado Depaztment of <br />Historic Preservation (CDHP), the National Register of Historic Places and the <br />White River Resource Area of the Craig District of the Bureau of Land Management <br />(BLM) was conducted. During and after the inventory, several informants and the <br />published and unpublished reports oa the archaeological and historical work done in <br />the azea were consulted. The results of these seazches will be presented later in <br />this report. <br />• Z.2 FIELD METHODS <br />Two phases for the cultural resource inventory of the three Northern <br />Coal Company leases were initially defined. A third phase was added after the <br />completion of the Phase I field work. Phase I consisted of the inventory of all lands <br />within lease area C-1545, several "high priority" azeas within lease azea C-28358, <br />an existing seismic line, and several hydrology holes, most of which were located <br />within the C-28358 "priority" azea. The results of these portions of the survey were <br />reported in three untitled reports on July 1 and Z, 1979 (Anderson, 1979a; 1979b; <br />1979c). <br />Phase II consisted of the inventory of nine drill hole locations and one <br />proposed access road within lease number C-0126999. The results of this survey <br />were reported in as untitled report dated August 15, 1979 (Anderson, 1979d). <br />Phase III consisted of the inventory of the remainder of lease areas <br />C-28358, C-1546, C-O1Z6997, and C-0126999. Approximately 320 acres were added <br />• to the project azea at the beginning of the field work oa this phase. <br />E-14 <br />
