PART I
C . FOOTDTOTES
J - 7. A "24 hour composite" sample is a combination of at least eight
(8) sample aliquots of ac least 100 milliliters, collected ac
equally spaced intervals during the operating hours of a facility
over a twenty-four (24) hour period, For volatile pollutants,
aliquots must be combined in the laboraeory immediately before
analysis. The composite must be flow proportional; either the
time interval between each aliquot or the volume of each aliquot
must be proportional to either the wastewater or effluent flow at
the time of sampling or the co cal wastewater or effluent flow
since the collection of the previous aliquot. Aliquots may be
collected manually or automatically.
f/ - In the even[ an oil sheen or floating oil is observed, a grab sample
shall be collected, analyzed, and reported on the appropriate DMR.
In addition, corrective action shall be taken immediately co mitigate
the discharge of oil and grease. A description of the corrective
action taken should be included with the DMR.
g/ - Where, based on a minimum of 5 samples, the permictee demonstc'a:es co
the satisfaction of the Water Quality Control Division that the level
of total dissolved solids (TDS) in the effluent can be calculated
based upon the level of electrical conductivity, the permictee may
measure and report TDS in terms of electrical conductivity.
- TDS shall be sampled on a monthly basis until six samples have been
analyzed. A report of "No Discharge" shall not be counted as ore of
the six samples. Thereafter, monitoring shall continue on a
quarterly basis. Following submittal of the initial six secs of
monthly data, the Division shall determine whether the permittee is
required to submit a report addressing sale removal in accordance
with Regulations For Implementation of the Colorado River Salinity
Standards Through the NPDES Permit Program, 3.10.0. If the salinity
report is required, the Division shall so advise the permittee by
letter and the report shall be submitted within 180 days.
J - This parameter is subject co "Noncompliance Notification"
requirements of Part II.A.3.(b)(v) of this permit.
j-/ - Procedure for determining settleable solids is contained in 40 CFR
434,64. The method detection limit for measuring settleable solids
under this part shall be 0.4 m1/1.
- Should a precipitation even[ occur, the permictee shall submit
appropriate documentation in order for an exemption co be claimed
(see Burden of Proof requirements). In lieu of such documentation,
primary Limitations shall apply. Documentation shall be reported as
an attachment to the Discharge Konitoring Report for the appropriate
period.
