-.
PART I
C. FOOTNOTES - APPLICABLE TO PRECEDING PAGES
- The thirty (30) day average shall be determined by the arithmetic
mean of all samples collected during a thirty (30) consecutive-day
period. Samples shall noc be used Eor more Chan one (1) reporting
period. (Noc applicable to fecal coliform determinations - see
footnote J .)
- The seven (7) day average shall be determined by the arithmetic mean
of all samples taken in a seven (7) day period. Samples may noc be
used for more than one (1) reporting period. (Noc applicable to
fecal coliform determinations - see footnote ~.)
~ - This limitation shall be determined by a single sample or sec of
samples as required by Part I.B., Sample Type.
- When the measurement frequency indicated is quarterly, the samples
shall be collected during Marti, June, September and December, if a
continual discharge occurs. If the discharge is intermittent, then
samples shall be collected during the period chat discharge occurs.
If the permittee, Wising the approved analytical methods, monitors
any parameter more frequently than required by this permit, then the
results of such monitoring shall be included in the calculation and
reporting of the values required in the Discharge Monitoring Report
Form or ocher forms as required by the Division. Such increased
frequency shall also be indicated.
J - Definitions of Sample Type
1. A "composite" sample, for monitoring requirements, is a minimum
of four (4) grab samples coliected ac equally spaced two (2)
hour intervals and proportioned according co flow.
2. A "grab" sample, for monitoring requirements, is a single "dip
and cake" sample.
3. An "instantaneous" measurement, for monitoring requirements, is
a single reading, obser~acion, or measurement performed on site.
4- A "continuous" measurement, for flow monitoring requirements, is
a measurement obtained from an automatic recording device which
concinualLy measures flaw.
5. A "visual" observation, for oil and grease monitoring
requirements, is observing the discharge to check Eor the
presence of a visible sheen or Floating oil.
6. An "in-situ" measurement, for monitoring requirements, is
defined as a single reading, observation or measurement taken in
the field ac the point of discharge.
Code: i - 16 Date: 1.84, revised LO-88, revised 12-88
