Stevens
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman St. - Room 423
Denver, CO 80203-2273
Re: Fuel Storage Tank Relocation
Your File No. C-81-014
Dear Jim:
Energy Fuels Coal, Inc. (EFCI) has finalized plans for relocating
the underground fuel storage tank located on the Magpie Creek
diversion embankment at the Southfield Mine Site. Currently the
tank is fully exposed from earlier excavation work as mentioned
• in correspondence from EFCI to the Division dated December 15,
1987. The proposed construction plan involves moving the tank
horizontally a distance of approximately 20 feet to the north;
regrading and stabilizing the existing excavated slopes, and
construction of a spill containment berm enclosing the tank.
The above proposed plan will result in an insignificant change in
the location of the fuel storage tank. EFCI believes therefore,
that an application for a minor revision is unnecessary as was
suggested in correspondence from Mr. Lynn Woomer to EFCI dated
December 31, 1987. In addition, a review of Southfield's permit
application indicates that the fuel storage tank location is
accurately shown on the structures map located in Volume 4, Sec-
tion 2.05.2, titled "Canon City Project, Dorchester No. 1 Mine,
Plot Plan and Affected Lands".
As weather conditions continue to improve, EFCI intends to begin
stabilizing the slopes of the existing excavation in preparation
for moving the tank. If you have any concerns or require addi-
tional information on this matter, please do not hesitate to
contact me at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
• Allen S.
