In an effort to unflerstand what is happening to the iron values, I've compiled selected
parameters for the last five years from our Annual Hydrology Reports for three
sample sites. The sites are NPDES 007, SW N108 (Calamity Draw upstream of the
NPDES 007 outfalQ, and SW N104 (the CCC ditch upstream of our permit area). The
CCC ditch is the principal source of water for the Nucla area, which includes our
permit. The parameters are Temp (C), Conductivity, Flow (cfs), pH, and Fe (tot). A
copy of the compilation is attached to this cover letter.
It appears that our water sources have average total iron values higher than our
discharge requirements. So, I'm not sure how we managed to stay in compliance for
so long. I would like to give you a week or [wo to review the data and then call to
discuss monitoring options to determine the problem
The quarterly WET test of Ponds 007 and 008 passed.
Slrieerely.
._i
I
Tom
Mine Engineer
cc: Tom Kaldenback, DMG (w/ enclosure)
Murari Shrestha, WFA (w/o enclosure)
file
