Ponds 007 and 008 discharged during the monitoring period, and
with the exception of iron, all water quality monitoring criteria were within permit
standards.
NPDES 007 met the 0.30 mg/L discharge threshold for iron (tot) in July and exceeded
it for August and September, with 0.45 and 0.31 mg1L respectively. The outfall has
three water sources: 1) water pumped from the pit, 2) irrigation runoff from the Nucla
CCC ditch and 3) imgation runoff from Calamity Draw. Both sources 2) and 3) are
not currently quantifiable as they have a number of undetermined factors. We do
meter the pit water pumped to the NDPES 007 pond. By the time the contract lab
(ACZ) reported the iron values for August and September, the irrigation season was
over. Concurrent with the October sampling, we sampled the only remaining water
source, the pit water. Both these sample values are pending and will be reported to
you when they become available.
NPDES 008 was opened in mid-June this summer and discharged periodically until it
was closed for at least the year on 28 September. All values with the exception of the
September value for iron (tot) Inet discharge requirements. The September iron value
was 0.31 mg/L. The only water source for NPDES 008 is irrigation runoff from the
Nucla CCC ditch.
