ATTACHMENT E
41-A -- This pond needs to have the spillway extended at least 20
feet below the toe and erosion control material installed in this
extension. All other parameters of this pond appear to meet
specifications.
41-B -- This pond does not meet the 4 foot requirement for the
distance from the crest of the spillway to the top of the dam. This
crest needs to be lowered by at least 0.93 feet. Also, the spillway
needs to be extended to a distance 20 feet below the toe of the
dam. This spillway extension will require erosion control material.
The resulting spillway width after correction shall be at least 8
feet wide or additional calculations will be required for the
spillway. The majority of the side slopes meet the 3:1 requirement
except for an area along the south side of the pond. This can be
corrected by using the material obtained when the spillway crest is
reduced.
41-C -- The crest of the spillway needs to be dropped by 1.4 feet
to meet the 4 foot requirement. However, once this is done the
bottom of the pond will be at a higher elevation than the crest.
Therefore, the pond should either be removed or rebuilt per the
permit requirements.
• 41-D -- The major problem with this pond is that it does not meet
the minimum 10 acre requirement for the tributary area. However,
you had mentioned that CDMG may allow this pond to be retained
through the submittal of a minor revision. It is assumed that if
the minor revision is approved, the pond will still have to meet
all other requirements of the permit and the two agencies listed
above. Therefore, the side slopes on the south side of the pond
will have to be reduced since there is an area where the slopes are
steeper than 3:1. Also, the spillway will have to be extended and
the spillway will have to be widened. The calculations performed
were for a 10 foot wide spillway. If the final spillway width is
less than 10 feet, additional calculations will have to be
performed. The material obtained from widening the spillway could
be used to correct the steep slopes on the south side of the pond.
The embankment width needs to be widened to at least 8 feet while
maintaining the 4 foot spillway crest to top of dam requirement. A
crack in the top of the embankment was also observed during the
inspection. The depth of the crack could not be determined at the
time of inspection.
41-F -- The crest of the spillway needs to be dropped in elevation
by at least 0.5 feet. The embankment width needs to be widened to
at least 8 feet over its entire length. While the majority of the
slopes of this pond are less than 3:1, there is one area on the
southeast side where the slopes are 2.875:1. The material obtained
from reducing the spillway crest elevation can be used to correct
• this slope. The spillway also needs to be extended 20 feet below
the toe of the dam and this extension will require erosion control
