EXHIBIT C <br />Mining Plan <br />6.3.3. This is an open pit mine located 6-1/4 miles southeast of Haxtun, Colorado, <br />located along the channel of a dry streambed. We anticipate the life of this mine to be <br />between 5 and 10 yeazs depending on our need for material in the azea. The site is currently <br />a dry creek bed. <br />The material will be used to supply gravel for concrete mix. We also expect the <br />owners to remove material they may need on their own property. The land will remain <br />pastureland as mining progresses. <br />Of the 9.9 acres t in the permit azea, all will eventually be mined. The site will be <br />left as a shallow (I S ft. deep) hole in the surrounding pastureland. <br />The site will be mined from the existing working area towazd the north and east. A <br />dozer will be used to mine the material and stockpile it for load out to the job site. We <br />expect to remove the upper 15 feet of sand and gravel deposit for use as concrete mix <br />material. Any topsoil encountered will be saved for use in reclamation and placed azound <br />the mined area or on the floor of the excavated azea <br />Review of well data on the surrounding area indicates the water table is more than <br />250 feet below the existing ground surface in this azea. We do not expect to encounter <br />ground water on this site because its floor elevation is approximately 180 feet above the <br />closest surface water feature. We will not affect the hydrologic balance of surface or <br />subsurface water in the area. <br />The exterior slopes around the site will be maintained as mining progresses so no <br />side slope grading will be necessary if mining ends prematurely. The exterior slope rate will <br />be 3h to lv from the existing ground level to a point that is approximately 15 feet below the <br />existing ground surface. The floor of the mine will be graded so there is a slight slope to the <br />southeast. Mining will be done by pushing the material into piles from the upper level to the <br />bottom of the mine. Using this method, we avoid creating a vertical working face on the site <br />and reduce the amount of grading necessary as mining ends. The fmal depth may be deeper <br />depending on the actual reserves found as mining progresses. If it is deeper, the sloping <br />plan presented above will be followed. <br />This deposit is an alluvial deposit of gravelly sand lying under the Paoli sandy loam, <br />less than 2% slopes, soil series. It has an unknown depth, but we typically use the upper 15 <br />feet of material. When mining ends, the floor will be leveled and reseeded using the <br />seedmix shown in the soils information. <br />As noted in the soils and vegetation section, there are 8 to 12 inches of topsoil on the <br />site. When encountered, it will be stripped and stockpiles around the perimeter of the site <br />for use in reclamation. If the soil stockpiles remain undisturbed for more than one gzowing <br />season, a cover crop of Western Wheatgrass will be planted at a rate of 3.0 pls/200 Ft2. <br />
