Mr. Steve Renner <br />June 10, 1987 <br />Page 2 <br />was conducted. Weather conditions were favorable, <br />skies partly cloudy, temperature about 65 °F. A <br />light rain had fallen on the evening of June 14th. <br />July 18, 1983: The annual embankment inspection <br />was conducted. Weather conditions were favorable, <br />skies partly cloudy, temperature about 85°F. The <br />mine area was dry and mine personnel reported <br />that no measurable precipitation had fallen in <br />about one week. <br />F. July 6, 1984: The annual embankment inspection <br />was conducted. Weather conditions were favorable <br />with sunny skies and temperature of 80°F. The <br />mine area was dry and no measurable precipitation <br />had fallen within one week. <br />G. August 1, 1985: The annual embankment inspection <br />was conducted. Skies were sunny with a temperature <br />of 75°F. The mine area was dry at the time of <br />inspection, although scattered showers have occur- <br />red over the past week. <br />H. July 3, 1986: The annual embankment inspection <br />was conducted. Skies were partly cloudy with <br />temperatures in the 70's °F. The mine area was <br />dry at the time of inspection, although scattered <br />showers have occurred over the past week. <br />I. February 17, 1987: Colorado Mining Permit No. <br />C-80-005 was renewed. <br />J. June 4, 1987: The annual embankment inspection <br />was conducted. Skies were partly cloudy with <br />temperatures in the 80's °F. The mine area was <br />dry at the time of the inspection. There was no <br />evidence of precipitation within the past week. <br />II. Inspection <br />A. Crest of Embankment <br />The crest of the embankment is a 60-foot wide <br />roadway used far coal haulage. No signs of stress <br />(cracks) were noted upon inspection of the crest. <br />The roadway and side ditches are well maintained. <br />Safety berms are in place. The side ditches are <br />clean and traverse the entire length of the embank- <br />ment with no openings for discharge onto embankment <br />slopes. There was no flow in the side ditches on <br />the date of the inspection. <br />
