NORTHWEST COLORADO CONSULTANTS, 1NC. <br />C. <br />• <br />Project: Pond 011 - Yoast Mine <br />Location: Routt County, CO <br />Client: Seneca Coal Company <br />Work Performed: <br />Project No.: 97-3000 <br />Report No.: 1 <br />Date: 8!27/97 <br />Time: 4.0 <br />Mileage: 2 trips <br />EngrJTech: CR <br />As requested, we visited the project site twice on this date and conducted nuclear density test No.'s 1 through 6 or <br />the material being placed. <br />The excavation crew for Seneca Coal Company placed and compacted on-site borrow material for the darn <br />keyway and the first lifts of the site grading below the drain fabric from the toe of fill to the keyway. <br />On our first visit, two samples were obtained for Checkpoint Proctor determination. The samples matched a <br />previous curve on the job, Figure No. 8, and will be designated as Sample No. 1 for the remainder of this project. <br />A third sample of the bortow material was obtained on our second visit and delivered to our laboratory for <br />Checkpoint Proctor determination. This sample matched a previous curve on the job, Fgure No. 7, and will be <br />designated as Sample No. 2 for the remainder of this project <br />Remarks: <br />The material tested for the keyway fill generally met project specifications for compaction and moisture content <br />The material tested for the subgrade below the drain fabric ranged from 93% to 97% compaction and 2% to 4% <br />dry of optimum moisture content The contractor stated that the material would be scarified with additional <br />moisture applied prior to recompaction. <br />Please refer to the attached sheet for results of today's testing. <br />Verbal Discussions: <br />Mike Altavilla of Seneca Coal Company was notified of today's test results. <br />• <br />
