P-2 •
2.) All slopes would be mined to vertical but mining w ld
halt short of the boundary of the permitted acres to allow for
backfilling and equipment movement for shaping within t bound-
aries. Reference to slumping applied only for a time al g the
west boundary until the extent of the deposit can be determined.
Extreme care will be taken to remain within the confines of the
permitted acreage.
3.) The estimated life of the mine is at least 15 years. We
have indicated "indefinite" in the legal notices.
4.) Unless the water-table is encountered first, minin could
go to a depth of nearly 30' which is the estimated diffe ence
in elevation between the cropland to the west and the g avel
bluff in the undisturbed area.
5.) The contract crushing operation expected in Phases lA &
2, will probably shift with the progression of mining tivity.
At best we would expect the crusher and material stockpi es to
be centrally located in these two phases. As previousl indi-
cated in the original application, material found thus far along
the west boundary does not require crushing.
Exhibit C
1.) No asphalt plant is contemplated for the site. An addi-
tional stockpiles will probably be located in Phases lA 2.
Exhibit D.
l.) No wildlife brushpiles are planned to be incorporat d into
the reclamation plan since little or no brush will be en ountered
and the future use is pasture.
Exhibit E
1.) All areas disturbed since 1973 will be reclaimed ac ording
to the details set forth in the reclamation plan without regard
to the particular scenario finally emerging as the size znd
quality of the mineral deposit becomes better known. An change
in the permitted boundaries could also involve a request for
modification of the reclamation plan. The only distinction we
made across the proposed area was that the slopes on the east and
north boundaries would be backfilled and shaped during t e course
of the mining operation. But we could not say the same or the
embankment along the west boundary until the size and v ue of
the deposit in that area could be determined. Should we want to
amend the permitted area, we would not want to handle t material
twice. However, final reclamation will be carried out using the
agricultural tillage and seeding practices set forth in the orig-
inal application.
Exhibit F
1.) There must be some misunderstanding. An examinati of Exhibit
C-2 clearly shows the the proposed area is located in t e Ez of the
SE 4 of Section 33-22-53 which is incorporated into the statement
from the Bent County Land-Use Administrator.
