Rindahl & Associates-
Therefore, the suggested bond is to equal the cost of
reclaiming the site as presented here.
2. After evaluating the sequence of events, we find that your
calculations are still correct. The estimate of 311 cubic
yards as presented, is correct. The problem appears to be
related to the handling of the subsoil which is sandy loam
and which is also the commodity being mined. Clarification.
The subsoil will be used in an over-the-shoulder reclamation
method of plant-growth medium ("topsoil") replacement. It
will not be stockpiled as plant-growth medium, only as mined
material to be sold. As an area is mined, it will be graded
with b inches of "subsoil" (material being mined) and have 2
tons per acre of weed-free manure incorporated. Then, the
resultant plant-growth medium will be compositely sampled for
analysis in order tv determine other amendment requirements.
Hopefully, this explanation resolves the issue and answers
your question.
Er.hibit E
2. The structures on site are permanent and will remain after
mining and reclamation are complete.
5. The pond will be approximately 8 feet deep. The pond will be
sealed with the clay from beneath the mined material. Ground
water is contained aquifer. The "perched water" is a result
of precipitation, infiltration and percolation and does not
remain for an extended period of time.
6. The material being mined is generally going to 6e sand. The
sand is generally greater than 60 inches deep (as defined by
the 5oi1 Conservation Service for the Blakeland soil series)
and in the permit area is expected to be 15 to 20 feet deep.
There will not be complete removal of the sand to bedrock or
to the underlying clay, where and when it does occur. The
expected depth of excavation is not anticipated to e::teed 10
feet. This would leave between S and 10 feet of rooting
depth in addition to the b inches (average) of plant-groaith
medium being replaced.
In short, there will be a minimum of b inches of product left
below the plant-growth medium being replaced.
7. Your assumption is correct. Because the mulch is to be
crimped, the intended method of seeding is now to be by
drill. If at sometime a change to broadcast seeding is
necessary, the operator will double the rates and notify the
MLRB.
2
& Environmental
