• <br />Block 2 soils were sampled along a N-S transect also in an agricultural grassland showing signs <br />of limited irrigation and grazing in lieu of hay cropping. Soils in general were 12-18" in the <br />northern sample locations, lighter brown in color than Block 1, and thinned to south to 6" in <br />depth. Slope estimated at 1%, average vegetative cover 45%, course fragment 10%, bare ground <br />25%, per cent litter ]0%, stones and small rocks ]0%, aspect southeastemly. Block 2 soil <br />sampling locations were taken in the area immediately west of Block 1 soil samples. <br />Samples 2-1, 2-2 reflected a light brown silty loam to 18" in depth with <IO% course pebbles'/." <br />or less. Sample 2-3, 2-4 portrayed light brown silty loam to 12" with <10% course rock pebbles, <br />and Sample 2-5 was a light brown silty loam 6"-10" in depth with <]0%course rock pebbles <br />content.
