INTRODUCTION <br />ACZ INC. was contracted by Kerr Coal Company during October, 1980 <br />to supervise construction, inspect and certify Sediment Ponds "A", <br />"B", "C", "D" and "E" at Kerr Coal Company's coal mine near Walden, <br />Colorado. The methodology for completion of this contract consisted <br />of the following items: <br />• Review of the approved design <br />• Weekly on-site inspections <br />• Collection of soil samples for laboratory analysis <br />• Laboratory analysis <br />• Review and comparison of as built dimensions with <br />design dimensions <br />• Observation of construction methods <br />- Type of fill material <br />- Compaction method <br />- Placement of material <br />• Verification of constructed dimensions <br />• Certification of the sediment ponds in accordance <br />with Colorado Regulations, Section 4.05.6 (7) for <br />coal mining <br />Coordination of these functions were completed with Dave Gossett and <br />George Patterson of Kerr Coal Company to ensure that construction of <br />the ponds was completed according to the approved design and in a <br />cost efficient manner. A review of the inspection and subsequent <br />certification follows in this report. <br />'C <br />1 <br />
