(Energy Fuels Corporation, 1981). Most summer temperatures ranged
from 11 to 24 degrees C with considerable diurnal fluctuation.
~- The 1979 pH values ranged fron 7.8 to 8.4. During 1980-81, pH
ranged from 6.8 to 8.2 but averaged approximately 7.3. Electrical
conductivity typically approximated 600 micromhos per centimeter,
but ranged from 260 to 2,560 micromhos per centimeter.
Wider than the other study area streams (4 m (13 ft] or more)
Fish Creek has a low gradient (0.28) and meanders widely. The
streambanks lack woody riparian vegetation, and are not stable
enough to permit undercut banks. Riffle habitat is rare; pools
and runs are predominant. Sand and silt form the substrate
throughout most of the streambed.
Water quality characteristics for Fish Creek are available
• from temperature, pH, and electrical conductivity measurements
taken from March, 1979 through June, 1981 at Fish Creek Station
1 (Energy Fuels Corporation, 1981). Summer temperatures ranged
from 15 to 25 degrees C. The water appears to be more alkaline
during 1979 than 1960-81, as pH values for 1979 ranged from 7.9
to 8.5, while 1980-81 pH values ranged from 6.6 to 7.9. Electrical
conductivity typically approximates 500 micromhos per centimeter
• with a range of 240 to 650 micromhos per centimeter.
