2.0 CROSSING GEOMETRY <br />April, 2004 <br />The proposed crossing requires a roadway width of 16-feet to accommodate the large <br />mining vehicles that will use it. The 16-feet wide travel way will be constructed with an <br />addition 1-foot on either side to create a total top width for the embankment fill of 18- <br />feet. The roadbed will span approximately 200-feet of creek bed joining the east and <br />west sides of Boulder Creek at the same point where an historic culvert crossing had <br />been previously been established. <br />The roadway embankment is sloped at 2-feet horizontal to 1-foot vertical and the <br />embankment faces will be protected with D~ = 18" riprap. Approximately 65-feet of <br />culvert will be required to daylight at the upstream and downstream toes of the <br />embankment slope because the pipes are skewed from the roadway alignment at an <br />angle of 58°. <br />Turnpike Pit Low Water Crossing Design Report <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />
