Box 459 <br />Florence, CO 81226 <br />Re: Southfield Mine and Coal Loadout <br />Quarterly Sediment Pond Inspections <br />Certification of Quarterly Inspections <br />Dear AI: <br />On September 1, 2000 the sediment control ponds numbered 1, 4, and 5 at Southfield, ponds 1 and 2 at <br />the coal loadout, and fi•esh water supply ponds numbered 2 and 3 at Southfield were inspected for <br />structural integrity, erosion, other hazardous conditions, and to identify required maintenance. The <br />inspection also satisfies Rule 4.05.9 (13) of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal <br />Mining. <br />To the best of my knowledge, based upon my field observations and investigations, as detailed in the <br />attached inspections reports, all referenced ponds are being maintained in conformance wi[h prudent, <br />state-of-the-art earthen embankment construction. <br />Sincerely, _ _~ ,, n <br />Ronald Gam.
