-z-
Phase 1 of the mining, activity represents completion of the
mineral extraction in an area of about 5 acres currently per-
mitted by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board, identif-
ied as Area A on the map, Exhibit C. Beginning in 1982, the
mined embankment that represents the south boundary of Area A,
has been backfilled and graded to a 2:] to 3:1 slope. The
new slope is now in the process of final reclamation wir.h top-
soil and seeding in compliance with the current permit.
All actual mining activity will be completed in Area A by the
spring of 1985. Due to the small size of Area A, a major por-
tion of the level terrace created by the mine floor, will con-
tinue to be used fora material stockpile area, the washing
plant, the Redi-Mix plant, vehicle parking, and related activ-
ities, as mining continues into the next two phases. Therefore,
reclamation will be limited to the embankments that will not be
disturbed as mining proceeds into the adjacent bluff.
Excess topsoil, not immediately required to restore Area A,
will be moved a short distance to the west, to the storage area
shown on the map, Exhibit C. Once stored, topsoil will be seed-
ed with a protective cover 'until needed for reclamation. For
more details, please see Exhibit E.
Phase 2 will begin in the extreme northwest corner of Area A,
and move westward into the gravel out-cropping shown as Area B
on the map, Exhibit C. Area B encompasses about 3 acres also
owned by Arylee, Inc.. First work in Area B is expected to
begin in 1984-85. Topsoil is extremely thin to non-existant on
much of this portion of the bluff. Where found, topsoil and
over-burden will be segregated and placed in the storage area.
