reclamation of partially reclaimed areas required only revegetation. If this is correct, this will become a permit
condition that will be monitored in future inspections.
At this point in time, it is proper to only bond for the full reclamation of Phase 1. At such time that your operation
is ready to expand into Phase 2, we should be contacted so that we may check the adequacy of the Phase 1
reclamation, and revise the bond amount to include the Phase 2 acreage (since it is different than Phase 1).
The bond estimate packet (which you carried with you when you left the office today) shows total reclamation costs
to be $47,972. Please review these figures and contact me if you see any errors or omissions. The packet includes
a summary page on top, followed by detailed task sheets for each task, and finally the equipment production and
cost sheets.
You stated that you will probably provide a "corporate surety" type of bond. I will inform Suzi Ericksen of our
Denver staff of this when I send her your applicafion approval. The forma] approval letter to be sent from the
Denver office will include the bond forms for you to use. If you or your bonding agent require assistance with the
bond, you should contact Ms. Ericksen (see letterhead).
Thank you for the timely and well-prepared adequacy response materials. It has been a pleasure, working with you
through this stage, and I look forward to seeing how your operation progresses. If you need to contact me, I may be
reached at the Division's Durango field office: 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO 81301; telephone:
247-5193 or fax 247-5104.
Sincerely,
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Ec: Harry Posey, DMG
Suzi Ericksen, DMG
A:\westside appr & fw/rco
