TR9PP8R ~tNINPr t~C.
iiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiii
April 4, 1996
CERTIFIED JlZ067066468
Ms. Kathleen L. Sullivan
Colorado Department of Health
Permits and Enforcement Section
WQCD-PE-B2
4300 Cherry Creek Dr.
Denver, CO 80222-1530
Dear Ms. Sullivan:
.. ~;,:,,
~~~ .l ~ 195f~ ,
Oiviaa„ ~, nbliOf NlL g. (;onln~.,
Subject: First Quarter 1996 Colorado Wastewater Discharge Report
Permit No. CO-0032115
Attached is Trapper Mine's First Quarter 1996 Colorado Wastewater Discharge Report for
the period 1/1196-3/31196. During this quarter, eight NPDES sites (001, 002, 005, 006,
011, 013 and 015) were active.
Enclosed are the monthly NOAA weather summaries for the reporting period, seep volume
data for site 005, and WET test DMR's. Seven WET tests were conducted with no exceed-
ances at the sites tested.
During the reporting period, exceedances were observed at Sites 009, 011, 013 and 015. All
discharges at these sites were caused by snowmelt in combination with precipitation events,
therefore the storm exemption applies. The attached NOAA weather summaries present this
information.
The TSS 30-day average was exceeded at Site 009. This was a mathematical violation only.
Only one discharge occurred, but it did not exceed the 24-hour standard, but was higher than
the 30-day average. The settleable solids standard was not exceeded.
Site 011 exceeded both the TSS and Total Iron daily max. and 30-day average standards on
2/22 and 3/5. Both discharges were a result of precipitation and snowmelt, therefore the
storm exemption applies. The settleable solid standard was not exceeded.
Site 013 also exceeded the daily max. and 30-day average for TSS and the 30-day average
for Total Iron during the 2/22 and 3/5 sample periods. Again, both discharges were the
result of precipitation and snowmelt so the storm exemption would apply. The settleable
solid standard was not exceeded.
P.O.
