3.7 TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES
i
,•~`
Transportation facilities at the Trapper Mine consist of Haul roads, access roads
and light use roads. Some public roads are within the proposed permit area, but
these are not normally used by the mine operations (refer to Section 3.7.1).
Futuna facilities at the operation may include a rail spur and a conveyor system
for coal haulage. All Trapper Mine transportation facilities are designed, con-
structed and maintained in a manner consistent with our reclamation and safety
programs to minimize erosion, reduce impact on fish and wildlife and ensure the
stability of the facility in order to protect men and equipment.
Actual future road locations will vary somewhat from the precise location shown
on associated Trapper Mine road locations maps. Due to the requirements of
mining and field conditions, locations will be within 100 feet of the projected
locations.
3.7.1 Public Funded Roads
i
• There are public funded roads within [he Trapper Mine proposed permit area. How-
ever, efforts have been made [o perm anen[Ly abandon the majority of these. Soma
small public funded road sections are included within [he proposad permit area.
One is a short section of toad that provides access to a private road used by the
Trapper Ptine personnel and others. This road is Located near the northwest part
of [he proposed permit area (refer to Map M7). Mining activities during the pro-
posed permit life will not occur within 100 feet of this road. Also there is a
fence and gates between the public road and the mining operations. Another short
section of a public funded road exists at the south par[ of the proposed petmit
area (refer to Map M7). This road meanders for a few hundred fact on the permit
area. To the north the road has been abandoned permanently. However, the short
meandering section was not abandoned in order [o allow access for a local rancher
to cross the draw located near there. Mining operations will not be conducted
within 100 Eee[ of the right-of-way of [hi s. road. A letter from Moffat County to
'~ 3-159
REVISED AUG 19 '87
