be monitored. It is also unclear if the applicant proposes to monitor the pond before and during
the mining activity. The applicant will need to commit to obtaining baseline water levels of the
water ski pond and a monitoring frequency for both during and after mining. It would also be
helpful if there are any historical water levels of the water ski pond to determine a baseline level.
• The applicant proposes a piezometer to be placed south of the ski club and south west of the
reservoir. Please indicate the location of these piezometers on map, and specify the frequency
and duration in which they will be monitored.
• The applicant states that if [he Water Ski Club's pond surface decreases by more than 2 feet from
the expected seasonal elevation, the applicant will take mitigative measures mutually agreed to
by the water ski club and the applicant. Please explain the rationale fora 2-foot drop in water
level to initiate a mitigation plan, and is this water level drop agreeable to the Water Ski Club. In
order to implement this plan, the applicant will need to provide to the Division the seasonal,
.elevations of the water. ski lake. Please address accordingly.
• The applicant will need to commit to submitting one of the specific mitigation plans mentioned
in the form of a technical revision to the permit in the event such measures aze required for
mitigation of the groundwater wells and/or water ski pond.
• The applicant proposed an interim mitigation plan for impacts to the surrounding wells. Please
explain if there aze any long-term mitigation plan addressing impacts to the surrounding wells.
4. Please be aware that.a technical revision to the permit will be required if the applicant opts for an
engineering evaluation tq mine,within:200 feet of a structure after issuance of the permit.
.Please be advised that ,the 124'h Estates Sand & Gravel New 112 Permit Application may be deemed
inadequate, anal the application may be denied on November 12, 2001 unless the above mentioned
adequacy review items are addressed to the satisfaction of the Division. If you feel more time is needed
to complete your reply, the Division can grant an extension to the decision date. This will be done upon
receipt of a wri[teq waiver of your right to a decision by November 12, 2001 and request for additional
time. This must be received no later than the deadline date.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely, .
S
Erica Crosby l~
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Cazl Mount; DMG
Scott Keen; Banks & Gesso, LLC
z
