Pa hoQen Limitations )continued)
(4) Otlter food crops and feed crops shall not be harvested from the land for 30 days after applicatioa.
(5) Animals shall not be allowed to graze on the land for 30 days after application.
(6) Turf grown on land where biosolids aze applied shall not be harvested for one yeaz after application if
the harvested turf is placed on either land with a high potential for public exposure or a lawn.
(7) Public access to land with a high potential for public exposure shall be restricted for one yeaz after
application.
(8) Public access to land with a low potential for public exposure shall be restricted for 30 days after
application.
c. :Vector Attraction Reduction T.imiLtions
If the biosolids are to be land applied to agricultural land, forest land, a public contact site or a reclamation site
the biosolids shall meet any one of the alternatives c)(n through c)(v).
If the biosolids are to be sold or given away in a bag or similar enclosure for application to land or for use one.
lawn or home gazdea, the biosolids shall meet one of the three alternatives (I) through (iii) below.
m The mass of volatile solids in the biosolids shall be reduced by a minimum of 38 percent prior to land
application. Alternately, if aerobically digested biosolids cannot meet the 38 percent volatile solids
reduction requirement, a portion of the previously digested biosolids (with a percent solids content of 2
percent or less) shall be digested aerobically in the laboratory in a bench-scale unit for an adtfitiona130
at a temperature between 20 and 22°C. At the end of the 30 days, the volatile solids content shall have
been reduced by no more than 15 additional percent.
(ii) The specific oxygen uptake rate (SOUR) for the biosolids treated in an aerobic process shall be equal to or
less than 1.5 mg of ozygen/hottr/gram of total solids at a temperature of 20°C.
(iii) The biosolids shall be treated in an aerobic process for 14 days or longer with a temperature remaining
above 40°C. The average temperamre shall be greater than 45°C.
(iv) The biosolids shall be injected below the surface of the land and no significant amount of biosolids shall be
present on the land surface within one hour after the biosolids are injectcd. If the biosolids meet the Class
A pathogen requirements (Part I.A.2.b)(I)), the biosolids shall be injected below the land surface within 8
hours after the biosolids are dischazged from the pathogen reduction process.
(v) Biosolids applied to the land surface shall be incorporated into the soil within 6 hour after application to tl
land. Biosolids that are incorporated into [he soil and which meet the Class A pathogen requirements (Par
I.A.2.b)(I)) shall be applied to or placed on the land within 8 hotus after being dischazged from the
pathogen treatment process.
Amendment , lo. 1 Issued .11; ~ i ~? f'-~~~~ ~-t Effettive ~~~y~g~_
