TLP/CDLILWHNVWJ <br />11/97 <br />The Bond series consists of very shallow and shallow, well drained, moderately permeable soils that formed in <br />alluvium and eolian deposits derived from sandstone on cuestas, mesas, hills and ridges. Slopes range from 0 to <br />50 percent. The mean annual precipitation is about 11 inches and mean annual temperature is about 51 degrees <br />F. <br />TAXONOMIC CLASS: Loamy, mixed, superadive, mesic Lithic Ustic Haplargids <br />TYPICAL PEDON: Bond sandy loam - on dipslopes; northeast aspect of cuesta with 4 percent slopes -rangeland. <br />(Colors are for dry soil unless otherwise noted.) <br />A-0 to 3 inches; brown (7.5YR 5/4) sandy loam, dark brown (7.5YR 4/4) moist; weak fine granular structure; soft, <br />very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; few medium, fine and very fine roots; few very fine irregular pores; <br />• neutral; dear smooth boundary. (2 to 4 inches thick) <br />BA-3 to 7 inches; brown (7.5YR 5/4) sandy loam, dark brown (7.5YR 4/4) moist; weak medium subangular blocky <br />structure; soft, very friable, nonstid<y and nonplastic; few very fine and fine roots; common very fine <br />irregular pores; neutral; abmpt smooth boundary. (0 to 4 inches thick) <br />Bt-7 to 13 inches; reddish brown (5YR 4/4) sandy day loam, reddish brown (5YR 4/4) moist; moderate medium <br />subangular blocky structure; hard, friable, sticky and slighty plastic, common moderately thick Gay films <br />on faces of peels and lining pores; common veryfine and fewfine roots; common very fine and fine tubular <br />pores; neutral; abrupt smooth boundary. (5 to 12 inches thick) <br />C-13 to 16 inches; light brown (7.5YR 6/4) sandyGayloam; brown (7.5YR 5/4) moist; massive; slightlyhard, liable, <br />slightly sticky and slightly plastic; few very fine roots; common very fine irregular pores; strongly <br />effervescent; moderately alkaline; abrupt smooth boundary.
