Mount, Reclamation Specialist <br />RE: File No. M-87-019, South Fork Pit <br />Adequacy Items <br />The following items must be addressed by the applicant in order to satisfy the <br />applicable requirements of C.R.S. 34-32-101 et seg. Mineral Rules and <br />Regulations of the Mined Land Reclamation Board: <br />Application Form <br />1, Please state the area of affected acreage (total area to be permitted), See <br />Revised Map. Total acreage is 9.91 acres. <br />2. Please provide the approximate elevation of the mine site. 7,975 feet. <br />3, Is Mr. Rominger the permitting contact for Rio Grande County? Yes. <br />Exhibit B - Site Description <br />1. We have initiated contact with the Colorado Division of Wildlife. <br />Exhibit C - Mining Plan <br />1, If the access road to the site is upgraded, it must be included in the <br />permit area and plans for downgrading or reclaiming it following mining <br />must be included. will remain as permanent road. <br />2. Will slopes be established during mining or will they be backfilled7 <br />Wi11 be both. <br />3. How far in front of the advancing pit will topsoil be stripped? We <br />recommend maintaining at least a 20 foot buffer zone of stripped topsoil <br />at all times in front of the advancing pit wall. Top soil will be stripped back <br />300 feet in at advance of the pit. <br />4, How will excess water from adjacent areas be controlled so it does not <br />erode unprotected areas of the mine site? Alternatively, what erosion <br />control piractices will be used on site to control anVV excess runoff <br />wdter7 his area is vary arid and there is no exces'S water to control so erosion <br />will not be a problem. IE this becomes a problem, dikes will be constructed. <br />5, How will topsoil stockpiles be protected from wind and water erosion? <br />If they are left unused more than one growing season, we recommend side <br />slopes of less than 3H:1V and vegetative stabilization with grasses.
