October 29, 2006
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
REEF ~~I~D
OCT 312005
pivision of Reolamatlon,
Niinmg and 5afery
Denver, CO 80203 )tE: Proposed Glade Co. Building Materials Site Permit
To Whom It May Concern:
The purpose of this letter is to address the proposal of the Glade Co. to put in a `building
materials' site on the east side of Highway 287 just north of Ft. Collins.
We are residents in Livermore (Glacier View) and travel Highway 287 on a daily basis
on out commutes to/from our work. The natural environment in the azea is beautiful and
one that we believe needs to be preserved. There is already one `building materials' site
just north of this azea; and, the visual impact on the environment is becoming more and
more visible as time goes on as they remove more `building materials' from the ridge.
Even though there is a sense that there will be `reclamation' of the land, it seems
ludicrous to think that the land would be reclaimed when so much of it is being removed.
We don't believe the Glade Co. project would be any different and would just add to the
environmental impact of the azea. Therefore, we are highly opposed to the Glade Co.
being issued a permit for their project.
In addition, we have recently driven the Masonville Road between Masonville and
Highway 34; in Loveland. The company that is taking slate and rock from the ridge has
completely altered the natural environment. From discussions with residents in that azea,
it has been very distressing to them that this occurring because the visual impact has been
so negative. And, from personal experience, it has saddened us to see such a negative
impact on what was once a beautiful natural environment of the ridges along that valley.
Therefore, we are asking that the permit of the Glade Co. for this project be denied. If
you have any questions regazding this, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Mary Lo Evans
79 El Diente Ct., Livermore, CO 80536
970-482-1214
Gv~2
Will Evans
