PARAMETERS (DISCHARGE
POINTS 001. 0051
Dear Ms. McCannon,
Attached, please find the discharge monitoring reports (DNB's) for
point 001 through 006 for the period of July 1, 1990 through
September 30, 1990. The DMR's indicate that an exceedance occurred
at point 001 during this period. The specifics of the exceedance
will be discussed below.
POINT 001 - the monthly average for fecal coliforms is reported at
6,250/100 ml, and the permit requires 2,000/100 ml. This number is
reflective of the number of coliforms reported during the July
sampling. The reported results for this quarter are as follows:
July - 18,750/100 ml, August and September - 0/100 ml. This
resulted from the break down of the chlorinator injector unit.
Thus, not enough chlorine was being metered into the effluent
water.
ACTION TAKEN
Chlorine was hand fed into the effluent water, until replacement
parts could be obtained to correct the feed problem of the
chlorinator. The chlorinator has been repaired and is functioning
properly.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The effluent discharge from the plant goes directly to a holding
pond, and no discharge occurred from the pond which would enter
State waters.
POINT 005 - On September 18, 1990, a severe rain storm occurred in
the are, and as a result of the storm, the dam embankment breached.
It was planned to obtain a sample of the effluent resulting from
this storm but the breached embankment did not allow for this.
